Dr. Vera Okoye, DNP, MCPH, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC

Our clinic, You First Health and Wellness Services in Rockville, MD, is led by Dr. Vera Okoye, DNP, a Maryland-licensed and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of nursing experience caring for both adults and children, including over 4 years dedicated specifically to mental health treatment. She holds dual board certifications in Family Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, allowing her to approach care with a strong understanding of the connection between physical and emotional wellbeing.

She is passionate about providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and individualized care to adults from diverse backgrounds. Her treatment philosophy is rooted in a holistic, patient-centered approach that prioritizes listening, collaboration, and empowering clients on their journey toward healing and wellness. Academically, she brings a strong foundation of advanced clinical training and expertise. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the District of Columbia, a Master of Science in Nursing in Community/Public Health and Family Nurse Practitioner training from The Catholic University of America, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Across Lifespan from the University of Massachusetts Global. Her board certifications through the American Nurses Credentialing Center reflect her ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and high-quality patient care.
